Terms of use · 4 September 2026
The app shows these in short when an account is first used. This is the same thing in full, and if the two ever disagree this page is the one that counts. StoneDex is operated by the operating company, whose registered name is being added here.
A technical library for natural stone, and a sourcing service. It reports published test data with its source and its standard, shows book-match previews, holds your projects, and offers candidates when you photograph a stone.
Published test values come from the supplier and are not verified by us. StoneDex does not certify a stone, approve a panel, or tell you that an installation complies with anything — those are decisions for the person with the licence and the professional indemnity. An Identify result is a list of candidates, not an identification. Do not use the app as the only basis for a specification, an order or a payment.
They are yours. They are held on the server so they follow you between devices. StoneDex staff can read them while sourcing help is on, so that a job can be priced; the switch is on the Account tab in the app, and turning it off is an instruction we follow rather than a lock on the file. What we can see, and what an administrator of your organisation can see, is set out in the privacy notice.
By subscription, and by a commission from the supplier when a job we sourced completes. Your name and contact details are not given to a supplier unless you ask us to give them. A subscription is arranged with us directly; nothing is sold inside the app.
Accounts are created by an administrator for named people at work. Keep your password to yourself, turn two-factor on if your organisation asks you to, and tell us if you think somebody else has used your account. We can suspend an account that is shared, automated, or used to copy the library wholesale.
You keep them. By confirming an answer you let us keep that photograph and the record around it in the reference set the library is matched against, and that is the one thing that survives closing an account — set out in the privacy notice. Ask and it can be taken out. Do not send a photograph you do not have the right to send.
StoneDex is one server and it will sometimes be unavailable. Data is backed up daily; nothing is guaranteed to survive every failure, so keep your own copy of anything that matters — Download my data gives you one. If these terms change in a way that matters we will say so in the app rather than re-dating this page quietly.
These terms are governed by the law of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the emirate in which the operating company is licensed have jurisdiction. Nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be removed by agreement.
